This is a recipe we've shamelessly based on  the oatmeal date bars from the famous Corsicana Bakery  in  Texas.  After the last test batch came out of the oven we realized that  these are even better...a just-sweet-enough homemade date filling is sandwiched between two layers of buttery organic seven-grain goodness studded with toasted coconut and chopped walnuts.
